Our Story

Western New York MRI started in 2003 when a group of radiologists purchased the first MRI center at 222 Genesee Street (originally built in 1989). The company began with 1 location and 6 employees performing about 4 scans per day on only 1 MRI machine and has grown to approximately 80 employees and 7 radiologists.

WNY MRI now has a presence in 12 different locations throughout WNY, performing a variety of studies, including MRI’s, Mammography, CT Scans, PET/CTs Ultrasounds, Nuclear Medicine, X-Rays, DEXA and Digital Motion X-Rays. Our centers offer on-site radiologists who serve patients (Adults and Adolescents) and their referring physicians in the Greater Buffalo and Niagara region, as well as our neighbors from Ontario, Canada. Each center features the latest technological advances in the imaging industry including an open MRI machine, 3T MRI and 3D Mammography, just to name a few.

Our Growth & Vision

Just because we have grown substantially since our founding, doesn’t mean we have stopped. WNY MRI is always finding new ways to produce even more detailed images in a more efficient manner. 

Expanded our Genesee St. Location

As part of our continued growth, in October 2016 the company completed a 7,770 square foot addition to its 222 Genesee Street location in downtown Buffalo. The second floor of this addition houses all our women’s imaging services. Also with the completion of this expansion, this location is the only free-standing, full service radiology center in Buffalo.

Opened 3 more main locations

We added 3 more main locations expanding from downtown Buffalo into Kenmore, Williamsville, and Lockport. We have expanded our services in Lockport as well to now include mammography and dexa scans at the facility that originally only offered MRI and X-ray.

Expanded into several satelitte locations

We have also expanded our practice to include multiple satellite locations throughout WNY.
